On Thursday 2nd March the school celebrated the 20th anniversary of World Book Day. The English department and Library staff transformed into famous literary characters for the day and students guessed the characters, as they identified them around school.

Students participated in a World Book Day themed quiz in tutor groups, with a particularly impressive score from 7W1, who achieved 37 out of 38, the highest result out of any tutor group in school. Well done.

As part of the celebrations, staff and students shared their experiences of reading with each other and discussed their favourite titles. Students also received a World Book Day £1 token to spend on a new book at their nearest participating bookshop.

The librarian hosted a World Book Day event for our year 7 students. The event was a great success and students enjoyed a variety of creative activities from designing their own book covers, to competing in a Harry Potter themed drawing challenge and adopting the role as an inventor, as they tried to devise a way to escape from a well with limited resources. The group thought of some very interesting ideas!

Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day.
